surveyDescription	French Hill Road Book No. 5 P. 146 and 147 State of Vermont, Windsor County ss. In Re. Discontinuance of 1 mile of Town Highway No. 48 Order The above entitled matter came on for hearing before the Selectmen of the town of Hartland on the 22nd day of October AD 1952 pursuant to notice thereof in the following form: You are hereby notified that the Selectmen of the Town of Hartland will meet at Damon Hall in the Village of Hartland on the 22nd of October AD 1952, at nine o’clock in the forenoon, to examine the premises and to hear all persons interested in the proposed discontinuance of the following described Highway. Being one mile of town Highway No. 48, as shown on map No. T36, Vermont Highways District No. 4, issued in 1949 for the Town of Hartland, being that portion of the said road known as the French Hill Road running from the Marley place to Mrs. E. M. Jay’s. The said notice was sent by registered mail Oct. 9, 1952 to the following named persons: Fred Rice, Elizabeth Morgan Jay, Charles T. Morley: return receipts were received from the above named persons. At said hearing the following person was present. Elizabeth Morgan Jay. Upon examination of the premises and hearing the party interested, it is hereby found that the 1 mile of Town Highway No. 48 being that portion of the said road known as the French Hill road running from the Morley place to Mrs. E. M. Jay’s is wholly within the town of Hartland: that it has not been made to appear that said highway was originally laid out under the direction of the County Court or the Supreme Court, that there is no objection to closing that portion of the said road known as the French Hill road, running from the Morley place to Mrs. E.M. jay’s. wherefore it is ordered that that portion of the Town Highway No. 48 running from the Morley Place to Mrs. E.M. Jay’s known as the French Hill Road be hereby discontinued. This order is effective at the time of its recording in the offices of the Town clerk of said Town of Hartland. Dated at Hartland, in the County of Windsor, this 5th day of January AD 1952. Dean Bradley, H. L. Merritt, E. H. Miller, Selectmen of the Town of Hartland.
